WELCOME
TO SENGWA CAMP
Our
walking safaris are done from
our exclusive base camp situated
on the banks of the famous Lake
Kariba.
Otherwise known as
Sanyati West Camp, it is in one
of the remotest parts of
the in the North Eastern
area of Zimbabwe in the Matusadona
National Park. |
 |
| Important:
Our
fixed base
walking safaris
are built around
YOUR needs and
NOT around a set
itinerary of
activities and
events. Each day
is loosely
planned and
there is NO camp
routine. Things
in the bush are
seldom routine.
You will be
asked to remove
any wristwatches
and forget about
a bedside clock.
Your day will be
governed by
nature, the bush
and the wildlife
that surrounds
you. |
 |
This
remote tented camp
is in one the best game areas of
the park. It is a totally natural and
undeveloped site and, as there are no
permanent facilities allowed, all of the equipment
needed for our safari is taken there we
need it. Elephants and Lions are
frequent visitors to the camp and there
can be
very few experiences to beat the sight
and sound of a
full grown Bull Elephant eating only 1
metre away from your tent! |
Sengwa
Camp - Matusadona National Park
We run small 'private' walking safaris from a remote
tented camp in the Matusadona National park, on the
banks of Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe. These safaris are
entirely flexible and do not involve touring the bush in
a mini-bus or waiting in line to get a view of wild
game. A trained, professional armed guide will take your
for 'sorties' from the camp into the bush and get you
right up close to the wildlife.

You can return to camp after your trek and relax
under the thatched shelter and have an ice cold drink,
whilst waiting for the wildlife to visit you in the
camp!

Tents
These are large two person
tents which have ample
head room. Each tent is
situated in the bush
over-looking Lake Kariba and
is under a rustic natural
wooden shelter that has been
specially built. There is a
small verandah in the front of
each tent where there are some
casual chairs and a table.
Each tent is situated so that
privacy is ensured and with
it’s own unique view over
Lake Kariba and the
surrounding bush.

Beds
are the comfortable metal camp
type that have mattress,
sheets, pillow and a bed
cover. There is a table in
each tent with a paraffin
lamp, matches, small mirror
and a waste disposal
container. Towels and bath
soap are supplied. There is a
large shaded-thatched area
where we eat and spend the hot
hours of the day. In this area
there are large tables, with
director chairs and plenty of
ice cold drinks.
|
| Toilets
These
are your normal flush toilet
system and are always kept in
a very hygienic condition.
There are also two bush
showers, which are operated on
a unique paraffin heater
system with cold or hot water
as and when required. Shower
and toilet areas are covered
for your privacy but have
spectacular views. |

The
camping experience
There
can be very few experiences
better than camping out in the
bush with nature all around
you. Knowing that you are now
well and truly in the
wildlife's environment,
although you still have some
of the comforts of home. We
often have elephants and other
animals in camp whilst we are
there and there surely can not
be many places where you might
have an elephant eating not 5
meters away from you having
Brunch! If you want to get
away from all the tensions of
modern day life and just want
to slip backwards through time
to days long past then this is
where you should be.
