Mana Pools to Kanyemba  6 days 5 nights Departs Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday
Available all year round Clients depart Kariba at approximately 08h30.

YOUR TRIP
 The first night is spent camping in Mana Pools with a short game drive before-hand. Canoeing begins on the 2nd morning at approximately 08h00. This safari takes one through some of Zimbabwe’s wildest terrain including the remote and austere Mupata Gorge, but also includes the Mana Pools shoreline. On the last night, clients camp at Kanyemba. The transfer back is approximately 8 hours. Clients are expected back in Kariba at approximately 16h00.


Your briefing will be held at the Kariba Breezes Hotel at 18h15 at the lower pool terrace on the evening before your trip departs. After the briefing you will be asked to sign an indemnity form. Canoeing Safaris will collect you for the briefing and return you afterwards.


DAY ONE

1. Canoeing Safaris will collect you on the morning of your safari in time for check in at the office at 08h00. Here you will leave behind any excess luggage and will be given a lockable valuables bag. Passports should not be carried on the River with you.


2. The group will depart for the shops at 08h30. Here you will have a chance to purchase the extra drinks and other items you may require on the safari. You will then leave town at 09h00.


3. Your group will be transferred in an open 4x4 landcruiser to Nyamepi (Mana Pools Main Camp) arriving here at 13h30.


4. After off-loading the equipment and a brief lunch the group then has a chance to explore the Nyamepi area by Game Drive.


5. The evening campsite is made at Nyamepi. 


DAY TWO (20 km)

1. The group is woken at 07h00 and after an in-depth safety talk by the guide and a demonstration on how to paddle, the trip on the River begins at 09h00.


2. Lunch is taken at 12h30 and there is now a chance to relax, take in your surroundings or possibly siesta until 15h00.


3. The group paddles now until the early evening when the first night’s camp is found at Chikwenya Island.


4. You now have a chance to enjoy a Bucket Shower and a brief Safety talk on Camping is 

given by the guide before dinner is served.


DAY THREE (25 km)

1. The group is woken with tea, coffee and biscuits at 05h00. Camp is broken down and the team gets on the River.


2. At 09h00 breakfast is taken on the banks or another island.


3. The schedule for the rest of the day is as per day two.


4. The third night’s camp is found in the False Gorge.

DAY FOUR (35 km with the assistance of the fast water in the gorge)

1. The schedule for this day is as per day three.

2. The day is spent exploring the shoreline of Chewore area (the home of the Great Elephant).

3. Campsite is found at the top of the Mupata Gorge.


DAY FIVE (35 km Again due to speedy flow)

1. The schedule for this day is as per days two and three. The day is spent mainly in the austere Mupata Gorge. Viewing its many endemic species of wildlife, and taking in its spectacular geographical features.


2. The night’s camp is made at the base of the towering Red Cliffs.


DAY SIX

1. After an early wake up and breakfast the group paddles down to the take out point at Kanyemba.


2. The equipment is loaded onto the vehicle and the group is transferred back to Kariba. Arrival in Kariba is expected at 16h00. 


PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A CAMPING SAFARI AND THERE ARE NO FIXED ABLUTIONS ON THE TRIP. ALL TIMES GIVEN ARE APPROXIMATE AND WILL VARY FROM TRIP TO TRIP.

WHAT TO BRING

1. Please keep your luggage to a maximum of 10kg per person, packed in a soft bag not a suitcase.

2. We recommend you pack the following for your safari:

Swimming Costume
Shorts
Personal toiletries
Towel
Canvas shoes or rafting sandals
A hat with a wide brim
A jacket or cardigan for the evenings
Shirts (including a long sleeved one for sun protection)
A kikoi or length of cloth to cover your legs to protect them from the sun
A torch or flash / flashlight and extra batteries
Film and spare camera batteries
Binoculars 
Sunscreen
Insect repellent
Socks for winter nights
Warm clothes to sleep in for winter nights
3. Canoeing Safaris provides all camping equipment and food as well as cordials, and wine for dinner. Should you wish to take any hard liquor, beer or carbonated drinks, we will take you to a shop in Kariba to purchase these.


4. Please ensure that you have begun a course of anti malaria tablets before your arrival in Zimbabwe and that you continue the medication for four weeks after arriving home.


5. Please ensure that you advise Canoeing Safaris or your travel agent of any dietary preferences or requirements at least one week before your trip departs. Please ensure you advise your agent or Canoeing Safaris of any medical disorders, which may require special attention.
