Mana Pools to Chewore  4 days / 3 nights  Departs Thursday, Friday, Sunday
Available 15 April to 15 November Transfer to put in point is approx 4 hours.

YOUR TRIP 

Clients start canoeing at approximately 11h00 after a safety talk. This safari covers the shoreline of the Mana Pools National Park - a unique ecosystem renowned for excellent game populations. The transfer back is approximately 6 hours.



Your briefing will be held at The Kariba Breezes Hotel at 1815hrs, on the Lower Pool terrace on the evening before your trip departs. After the briefing you will be asked to sign an Indemnity Form. The briefing will be conducted by one of our Canoeing Safaris Guides. We will collect you for your briefing and return you to your Hotel afterwards.


DAY ONE (5KM)

1. Canoeing Safaris will collect you on the morning of your safari in time for check in at the Office at 0800hrs and to hand in extra luggage and valuables. Passports should not be taken on the river. Lockable valuables bags will be provided for you at the office.


2. Your Safari will depart from the office at 0830hrs for shopping, in order to purchase any extra drinks you may require on you trip. You will then leave town at 0900hrs for the start of your expedition.


3. The group will be transferred in an open Landcruiser 4*4 to Nyamepi (Mana pools Main camp) arriving at approximately 1330hrs. The canoes and kit will be off loaded.


4. Your guide will give a safety talk and demonstration on how to paddle and a lunch served before you begin paddling at 1430pm.


5. Your group will then paddle until early evening when you will find your first night’s camp on Nyamatusi Island. This is time to have a bucket bath, relax and have dinner after a brief safety talk on camping by your guide.


DAY TWO (25KM)

1. Your group will be woken at 0530hrs for tea, coffee and biscuits before a short mornings paddle. Breakfast will be served either on the banks of the river or island at 0830hrs.


2. At 0930hrs the group resumes canoeing until lunchtime 1230hrs lunch is served and possibly a brief siesta taken on the banks until 1500hrs.


3. Canoeing then continues until early evening.


4. The second night’s stop is made at G. camp channels.


DAY THREE (20KM)

1. The schedule for this day is as per day two.


2. The third night’s stop is made at Chewore High Sand Bank.


DAY FOUR

1. A slightly later wake up is made on this day before a Breakfast is served at the campsite. 

2. The group then has a short paddle down to the take out point, where the vehicle and trailer is met.


3. Your group is then driven back to Kariba, a freshly packed lunch is taken en route, and arrival in Kariba is at 1500hrs.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A CAMPING SAFARI AND THAT THERE ARE NO FIXED ABLUTIONS ALONG THE WAY. ALL TIMES GIVEN IN THIS TRIP DESCRIPTION ARE APPROXIMATE; THEY WILL VARY FROM TRIP TO TRIP.


WHAT TO BRING

1. Please keep your luggage to a maximum of 10kg per person, packed in a soft bag not a suitcase.

2. We recommend you pack the following for your safari:

Swimming Costume
Shorts
Personal toiletries
Towel
Canvas shoes or rafting sandals
A hat with a wide brim
A jacket or cardigan for the evenings
Shirts (including a long sleeved one for sun protection)
A kikoi or length of cloth to cover your legs to protect them from the sun
A torch or flash / flashlight and extra batteries
Film and spare camera batteries
Binoculars 
Sunscreen
Insect repellent
Socks for winter nights
Warm clothes to sleep in for winter nights
3. Canoeing Safaris provides all camping equipment and food as well as cordials, and wine for dinner. Should you wish to take any hard liquor, beer or carbonated drinks, we will take you to a shop in Kariba to purchase these.


4. Please ensure that you have begun a course of anti malaria tablets before your arrival in Zimbabwe and that you continue the medication for four weeks after arriving home.


5. Please ensure that you advise Canoeing Safaris or your travel agent of any dietary preferences or requirements at least one week before your trip departs. Please ensure you advise your agent or Canoeing Safaris of any medical disorders, which may require special attention.
