SAFARIS IN
ZIMBABWE

Camp Zambezi - Mana Pools

Natureways will be operating a series of fixed-point camps in Mana Pools National Park from mid April to mid November.

Camp Zambezi will operate in the up-market – fully supported manner that Natureways is known for. Camp Zambezi will be very small, 9 beds to guarantee exclusivity.

A professional guide will be in residence to maximize your experience and ensure your safety in the bush. Camp Zambezi will complement our other safaris, by providing a good mix of game driving, with walking and canoeing. This camp will operate in areas where vehicle use will enhance the game viewing opportunities by having greater mobility.

Therefore this camp will appeal more to families and people not quite as active and adventurous as those wanting to take a full canoe or walking trail.

Camp Zambezi has also been designed for those wanting to have a few days in camp to unwind and soak in the African atmosphere before or after their canoe or walking safari, with Natureways.

Camp Zambezi will have large walk in tents with en suite toilets, hot bucket showers will also be provided off suite. A full complement of support staff will pamper your every need. A resident chef will serve up delicious bush cuisine.

This camp will use one of several sites on the Mana Pools Acacia terraces. This habitat, the main reason for the Park being a World Heritage site, has high concentrations of many mammal species, fantastic woodland birding and possibly the most distinctive treed scenic areas of any National Park in Africa. The Mana blue haze beneath the striking browse line of Acacias and Natal Mahoganies, is one of those images that stay with people deep in their memory as intrinsically as African dust is African dust.

Client safety is of the up most importance. Natureways is well known for the quality of our guides and their level of expertise. We believe a guide can make or break a guest’s experience in Africa. Zimbabwe has the stringiest standard of guide training and licensing in Africa. So you can rest assured you are in good hands on any Natureways safari and trust and rely upon the judgment of your guide at all times.

MEALS AND DRINKS:

Meals are prepared fresh each day by the resident chef. Supplies are brought in from Harare on a weekly basis. The rate is inclusive of all drinks, including local spirits and wines (red and white local) with dinner. Dietary preferences are not a problem to cater for, as long advance notice is given. Bottled water is at hand.

ACTIVITES:

Games drives are in open topped Toyota Land Cruisers 4 x 4. These drives may take you away from the river, to investigate the different inland habitats and the diverse occupants that make up the ecology of the area. Walking to explore and learn about the area, with your fully licensed Professional Guide. Your guide carries a weapon at all times.  Mana Pools can provide some amazing experiences, if you are looking for close encounters with game. Mana is famous for its Bull Elephants, and if we are lucky enough to encounter one of these gentle giants on foot, it is an experience never to forget! Canoeing is a wonderful way to take in the tranquillity of the bush, gliding past herds of mammals often unaware or uncaring of our presence. Canoeing is done in 18ft Canadian style canoes. Fitted with comfortable seats and cushions. Life jackets are provided. We are only too happy to cater for guests with any particular special interests, such as birding, photography, botany etc. Please advise us of any special interests prior to arrival. Ideally each guest should have his or her own set of binoculars to maximize the safari experience.

IN CAMP:

Camp Zambezi is a true bush camp – no electricity, no permanent structures, no pluming, etc. A taste of the way safaris used to be. The camp is designed to be erected and dismantled within hours. Leaving no trace of its existence on the environment. The camp has comfortable beds with linen and duvets.

The large tents have en suite toilet facilities for night use. A long drop loo will also be provided for day use. Staff will service your tents each day; laundry can be done in camp. All water used in camp has been filtered. Bottled water is also available. Each morning staff will fill your wash stand out side of your tent with hot water for washing or shaving. Lighting is via hurricane lamps; guests should bring their own torch. The romantic light of the candelabra at the dinner table makes dining in the African bush, surrounded by the evening sounds a very special occasion.
