Musango Safari Camp

Musango safari camp is a twenty-minute flight across the blue, island studded waters of Lake Kariba. Guests have a choice of flying by light aircraft to Bumi airstrip followed by a short boat transfer or by floatplane directly to Musango. As Musango is situated on its own island just off the shoreline of Matusadona National Park it has a commanding view of the lake.

The central building is a double storey traditional thatched structure that houses the open plan dining room with its horseshoe shaped tables, bar, lounge, shaded swimming pool and viewing platform, which is an ideal spot to enjoy a sundower whilst watching one of Kariba’s famous sunsets

Musango offers its guests a wide range of activities including game walks in the Matusadona National Park and the surrounding Wildlife Sanctuary. Exploring the many bays and rivers by boat and canoeing along the shoreline and adjacent creeks provides guests with an opportunity to marvel at the ghostly petrified trees which make picturesque perches for birds.

Accommodation is in six large comfortably furnished safari tents set under cool thatch. Each tent has a private verandah, an en-suite open air shower and under cover w.c. with natural stone surround. Also on offer are two honeymoon suites each with a private plunge pool.

A visit to a dinosaur fossil site and early Stone Age site may be arranged as well as a visit to the nearby villages.

Musango is a CAMPFIRE project and as such is in partnership with the local Omay community. Thus, a share of the benefits from tourism and conservation activities are channelled directly back into community development projects
