MATETSI WATER LODGE

Bordering the Zambezi River, Matetsi Game Lodges extends over 50 000 hectares in northwestern Zimbabwe, just 40 kilometers west of Victoria Falls and en route to the Kazangula border post in Botswana.

There are no fences to prevent animals moving between Chobe National Park and Matetsi. Although estimates vary it is thought that between 30 and 50 thousand elephants live in this region.

With its 15 kilometers of private Zambezi River frontage, Matetsi offers an unrivalled river experience.

Accommodation at Matetsi Water Lodge is made up of three exclusive lodges West Water, North Water and East Water. Each lodge consist of six suites whose situation ensures absolute privacy. From the bedroom and bathroom large teak doors open onto a verandah, plunge pool and magnificent view of the river.

The suites are equipped with air conditioning, ceiling fan, mosquito net, personal bar, electrical outlets, hairdryer and safety deposit box. The spacious bathroom has a separate w.c, bath, indoor and outdoor shower, shaving socket and a range of guest amenities.

The three lodges are located on the bank of the Zambezi River under a canopy of Mangosteen and Waterbury trees. Each lodge has its own public area consisting of a covered open sided thatched lounge with fireplace, drinks cabinet and TV for viewing wild videos. Dinner is taken under the stars on the bank on the river. (There is a covered area should it rain)

The décor and furnishing reflect the moods of the river and strategically placed chairs and benches invite one to relax and become entranced by the antics of the birds and game that come to the rivers edge to drink. The central reception area and curio shop with a range of African artifacts, basket ware, jewellery and clothing services all three camps.

Twice daily game drives in open Land Rovers, daily nature walks on the Reserve, morning and afternoon riverboat cruises, guided canoe excursions along the Zambezi River and fishing.

A complimentary daily shuttle is available to Victoria Falls allowing guests to enjoy various activities including a helicopter flight over the Falls, rafting, scenic touring of Victoria Falls and surrounding areas (these activities are at an additional cost). The shuttle leaves at 11:00 and returns at 14:30.

Access to Matetsi Water Lodge is by scheduled flight to Victoria Falls Airport. Transfers from Victoria Falls Airport, town and the border to Matetsi are available at an additional charge. Driving time from Victoria Falls Town and the Kazangula border to Water Lodge is approximately 45 minutes and from the Airport to the lodge approximately one hour.

Self-drive guests are directed to a central meeting point, where they are met by a representative from Matetsi Water Lodge who will transfer them by Land Rover to the lodge, which is 12 kilometers away.
