IMBA MATOMBO – HARARE

Friendly staff welcome you to Imba Matombo (house of stone) situated in Glen Lorne, a leafy suburb of Harare, the capital city, gives you spectacular views over the surrounding countryside, across to the Domboshawa hills.  Soak up this true African experience and let us pamper you with our acclaimed hospitality.  You will feel completely at home in authentic Zimbabwean surroundings.

We are ideally situated for businessmen and tourists alike – the city and the airport are only fifteen  and twenty five minutes away respectively.

At 1470m (4823ft) Harare’s high dry plateau is always cool at night, and cold during the winter months (June to August).  Harare is normally sunny by day throughout the year, although there can be prolonged overcast spells during the rainy season (November to March) accompanied by spectacular lightening and thunder displays.

Our Lodge is limited to twenty two guests – each lodge is individually decorated and personalised with a theme of railway sleep teak furniture appearing throughout.  All rooms have en suite bathrooms, satellite television, direct dial and telephone linked to a computerised billing system.  The Superior Lodges and Deluxe room are about double the floor space of the Verandah lodges and have an additional seating area.

Imba’s extremely high standard of cuisine is currently supervised by Siegfried Presslaber, the variable menus being described as International cuisine.  No expense is spared in the preparation our of food which has been acclaimed on numerous occasions by guests and journalists from all over the world as amongst the best in Zimbabwe, if not in Southern Africa!  We offer an al a carte menu from 7 pm and the restaurant is also open to outside diners.  Light lunches are served on the main verandah or in the dinning room.

Imba boasts a very charming and popular gazebo that is often used for special private functions as well as conferences and seminars for up to 50 people.  Rates are provided upon request.

At Imba Matombo we believe in providing a friendly welcome and a high standard of service throughout the lodge, while striving to make guests feel they really are in Zimbabwe – and at the same time, embrace them into the warm and friendly “Imba” family fold.

We are ideally suited for business visitors – drivers and vehicles are at hand to drop off and collect guests from the city centre with a relaxing friendly atmosphere to welcome them back at the end of a long day!  For tourists, a couple of days at the beginning and end of their safari to “acclimartse” are best spent at Imba, relaxing by the glorious 25m swimming pool, playing tennis, or a round of golf at one of six excellent golf courses within 30 minutes drive of the lodge.  Drivers are available for tours to the best craft markets, sculpture gardens, superb silver crafts and railway sleeper furniture.

Horse riding is available on a neighbouring farm where one can ride through 3000 unspoilt acres of spectacular Msasa woodlands.

The lodge also boasts a well-equipped gym, with a newly installed sauna and a new Jacuzzi beside the pool.

We are a member of the Relais and Chateaux (the only one in Zimbabwe) which is renowned for the 5 C’s – character, courtesy, calm, charm and cuisine.
