Houseboat safaris on Lake Kariba, Canoe safaris on the Zambezi and Accommodation and Activities at Victoria Falls

SAFARIS IN
ZIMBABWE

Gorges Lodge

Victoria Falls, where you will feel the roaring white water under your feet, the heart of Africa, the smoke that thunders – Mosi oa tunya… you are one deep breath away from Gorges Lodge, awash in gentle stillness.  Through exquisitely lush gardens, you are led along a winding path to your stone clad chalet on the edge of the Batoba Gorge, with the mighty Zambezi raging hundreds of feet below.  Georges Lodge is a 25-minute drive from Victoria Falls airport.

Accommodation is 10 thatched stone clad chalets all en suite.  Each chalet has a private deck with the awesome view of the cavernous gulping space of the gorge.

The staff at Gorges Lodge bubble with enthusiasm with nothing too much trouble for them: it is the African family way.

Airport transfers (must be arranged prior to arrival) shuttle service 25 minutes by road.  At the Falls there is a bank, post office, bureau de change, care hire, hospital, airline offices and chemist.

Enjoy swimming in the pool or take a sunset or sunrise cruise gliding silently on glass like water in a boat.  The fish eagle waits whilst in the watery distance hippos wallow in the never-ending expanse of the Zambezi.  Meet craftsmen and artists at the local village.  Other activities include white water rafting, bunji jumping, scenic flights over the falls and elephant back safaris for the wild at heart.  For the more sedate traveller canoeing safaris or cruises, and game drives in the nearby Zambezi National Park.

Round off the day with a sumptuous four-course dinner during which tribal dancers provide exhilarating entertainment.
